Privacy Policy
Last Revised: 2026-09-08
This Privacy Policy explains how ToolMagic ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit ToolMagic.app, contact support, purchase access, or use our browser extensions for social media backup, export, analytics, personal productivity, and research (together, the "Service").
This policy distinguishes between user exported data and user information. User exported data is the social media data you export with our extensions. It is processed and stored only on your local device and is never sent to our servers. User information includes the contact, purchase, support, technical, and usage information described below. The handling, storage, and sharing practices for each category are described separately below.
User Information You Provide
We may collect information you choose to provide, such as:
- your name, email address, and support messages;
- purchase, license, or order details;
- information you send when asking for help, reporting a bug, or requesting a refund;
- feedback, suggestions, or other messages you choose to send.
We do not ask for your social media passwords. Do not send us passwords, private authentication codes, or unnecessary personal data in support requests.
User Exported Data
Our browser extensions help you export data that is available to you through your browser session or public platform pages. This may include follower lists, following lists, posts, comments, profile fields, public identifiers, public emails, timestamps, or other data shown by the relevant social platform.
Our extensions access and process this data locally in your browser to perform the export you request, then save it on your device as files such as CSV spreadsheets. Exported data is never sent to or stored on our servers or transferred by us to third parties. We do not use it for our own analytics or other unrelated purposes. You control its storage, security, sharing, and deletion on your device.
Automatically Collected Information
When you use our website, we may collect limited technical and usage information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service. This may include browser type, device information, pages visited on our website, approximate location derived from IP address, error logs, feature usage, timestamps, and diagnostic data. This information does not include your exported data.
Our extensions collect only error logs as telemetry to diagnose failures, fix bugs, and improve reliability. These logs do not include your exported data. The extension data sharing restrictions below also apply to these logs.
Payments
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We may receive payment status, order identifiers, subscription or license information, billing email, and related transaction metadata. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
Cookies and Analytics
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality, analytics, fraud prevention, and performance measurement. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some website features may not work correctly if cookies are disabled.
We may use analytics providers to understand website traffic, product interest, and website feature usage. Analytics data helps us improve the Service and support customers.
How We Use User Information
We use user information, excluding exported data, to:
- provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- process purchases, licenses, refunds, and support requests;
- troubleshoot bugs, crashes, export failures, and account issues;
- communicate with you about support, updates, and service notices;
- protect the Service against misuse, fraud, and security risks;
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations.
How We Share User Information
We may share contact, purchase, support, and website information with the following recipients. Information obtained through an extension is subject to the additional restrictions below.
- service providers that help with hosting, analytics, email, customer support, payments, licensing, security, or error monitoring;
- payment providers when needed to process purchases, refunds, disputes, taxes, or fraud checks;
- authorities, regulators, or third parties when required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, or security;
- a successor or buyer if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets;
- others with your consent or at your direction.
We transfer user information obtained through an extension only when necessary to provide or improve its disclosed single purpose, comply with applicable laws, protect against malware, spam, phishing, fraud, or abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our assets after obtaining your explicit prior consent. These limits take precedence over the general sharing provisions above; consent alone does not authorize other transfers.
We do not share, sell, or transfer your exported data to any third party because it remains on your local device and is never sent to our servers. Any sharing of exported files is controlled by you.
Third-Party Platforms
Our extensions interact with social media platforms such as X/Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram to perform requested exports. Extension telemetry is limited to error logs for error monitoring. Our website may use third-party analytics services. Browser extension stores and payment providers also have their own privacy practices. Third-party services are not owned or controlled by ToolMagic, and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Data Storage and Retention
We keep user information for as long as needed to provide the Service, support customers, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods may vary based on the type of information and the reason we collected it.
Data retained locally by our extensions is stored in extension local storage on your device. Exported files, such as CSV spreadsheets, are saved separately on your device. We retain no copies or backups of your exported data on our servers. You decide how long to keep this data and can remove it by clearing extension local storage and deleting exported files.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data we handle. Data transmitted by our extensions, including error logs, uses HTTPS to protect it in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other assistance with personal information we hold about you. You may also uninstall our browser extensions, clear browser storage, delete exported files, unsubscribe from non-essential emails where available, or adjust browser cookie settings.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Revised" date above. Your continued use of the Service after a revised policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
